Capacity Building

Sant La provides cultural competence workshops and seminars, upon request,  to better prepare private and governmental entities to meet the cultural and linguistic needs of their clients, customers and/ or workforce.  Topics have included: Crash Creole for Medical Providers,  Survival Creole for Social Service Practitioners  and the History of Haitian Migration to the US.

Naturalization Assistance

Eligible Legal Permament Residents (LPRs) are assisted in applying for their US citizenship through naturalization application and civics review.  The curriculum and techniques used prepare students for the one-on-one interview process while proving  a basic understanding of American government.

Civic Engagement

Sant La hosts forums designed to promote community involvement; we encourage community members to identify  their needs,  articulate the appropriate solutions to those needs and participate in the decision-making process that affects their daily lives.

Employment Services

The job placement and employment program offers supportive services to successfully train and place those looking for work. Clients receive guidance and coaching with mock employment applications, and interview preparedness. A comprehensive employment orientation focuses on workplace protocol and personal appearance. Additional supportive services include re-employment support, resume preparation, and career counseling to achieve a client’s stated career goals.

Financial Capabilities

Sant La provides a series of workshops entitled “From Saving to Asset Building” designed to enhance understanding of  and access to commonly available financial products. Topics include: Budget Management, Credit Cards, Mortgages, Loans and an understanding of various financial products. Our comprehensive financial security services include: free tax preparation for low to moderate income tax payers, assistance with the resolution of issues with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and financial literacy coaching.

Health Insurance Enrollment

Sant La provides enrollment assistance in health insurance programs such as Medicaid, KidCare and ObamaCare. In addition, Sant La promotes access to health services through activities such as outreach and education to create a culture of prevention and to connect clients to necessary health services.

Information and Referral

Sant La offers information and referral services to the Haitian and Haitian-American communities  throughout South Florida. Clients receive guidance and care coordination as well as counseling and follow-up monitoring of services received.

Tax Preparation

Sant La provides free tax return preparation to eligible community members through our Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
